Neighbours have spoken about the moments leading up to a suspected kidnap case in Bulwell.

A gang was seen "hammering" on the door of a family home minutes before a suspected kidnapping took place.

Police are investigating after a 20-year-old man was seen being bundled into a car in Bulwell in broad daylight.

The victim was discovered just before 1am yesterday morning walking in Leicester.

He then received treatment for minor injuries at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The shocking abduction has left some families in the area afraid to answer the door.

Police say they were called to a "disturbance" in Broad Eadow Road, off Snape Wood Road, at around 4pm on Wednesday.

Witnesses told officers they saw a man being taken from a house by two men, before being forced into a vehicle and driven away.

The road was cordoned off by police that night and forensic teams were spotted searching the area.

Yesterday, the house was still cordoned off, with a policewoman standing guard and forensic officers scouring the property.

The rear of the house, which backs onto Snape Wood Road, was also taped off, with a police van parked up and an officer at the scene.

Neighbours described seeing a group of 15 to 20 youths outside the house, which is believed to be occupied by a mum, gran and two sons.

One neighbour, who is in his late 20s and did not want to be named, said: "I left home at about 4.15pm to get my daughter. I saw a group of between 15 and 20 lads at the door, all stood in a line. There was a couple of girls as well.

"There was one main guy actually hammering on the door with his fists. I didn't really think much of it.

"When I returned, all along here was live with police - about five police cars. I saw an officer putting the cordon up.

"Normally my kids play on the grassed area outside but having something like that happen so close to home, I've told them they can't play out. It's actually making me a bit cautious about even letting my kids come to the front door."

Another neighbour, a woman in her 30s, who did not wish to be named, said: "I was in the kitchen when it happened but got told by police there's nothing to worry about. I know the family have a young lad and a girl, and a younger boy as well.

"It makes me a bit worried as I have a little girl."

Another neighbour, a 56-year-old, said he'd just got back from the pub at about 4.30pm on Wednesday when he saw the cordon.

He said: "When I read on the Post website about a kidnap, I thought 'blimey'. It used to be pretty rough round here years ago, but it's quietened down."

A 70-year-old woman who lives nearby said she saw about eight police cars outside the house on Wednesday night. She added that she had not heard of anything like this happening in the area in all of the 30 years she has lived there.

Donna Saunders, 37, of Loughborough, was visiting a friend in South Snape Close, off Broad Eadow Road.

She said: "At least he's been found, that's the main thing."

Another woman, in her 60s, said: "I wonder if he's hurt very bad. It's very surprising."

A 47-year-old woman, who was walking her dog in the area, added: "It's shook me up to hear someone's been taken out and kidnapped."

A police van at the rear of the property.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident, should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
