Officers who raided a home after a firearms tip-off uncovered what turned out to be a number of air guns.
Police were called to the address in East Crescent at 1.30pm on Thursday.
Around 20 officers, some with machine guns and pistols, were seen at the property - dogs were used to search the premises as well.
The street was cordoned during the investigation.
They remained at the scene until 8.30pm but only found air weapons.
Next door neighbour Pete Copeland, 71, said: "There was police around here and dogs along with a couple of unmarked vans.
"I didn't know what to think about - it was so surprising."
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called to an address in Beeston Rylands yesterday afternoon following a report of possible firearms at a property.
"Officers investigated and discovered a number of what are believed to be air weapons."
