Booze thief took hundreds of pounds worth of Southern Comfort, Champagne and Jack Daniel's

West Bridgford: A thief stole bottles of Southern Comfort, Champagne, Jack Daniel's and Courvoisier cognac. Graham McCarthy, 33, of Varney Road, Clifton, took the items from Co-op in Hilton Crescent on December 8 and December 9, and from Co-op in Bridgford Road on December 10. McCarthy admitted taking more than £200 of alcohol at Nottingham Magistrates' Court. He also pleaded guilty to taking a £120 power drill from B&Q, Nottingham, on December 15. He was given a community order, drug rehabilitation requirement for a non-resident patient for six months and he was ordered to pay compensation.

Beeston: Tracey Boyington, 47, of Gregory Court, Beeston, stole two jumpers and two sets of pyjamas from Matalan on December 1. After pleading guilty to theft when she attended Nottingham Magistrates' Court, Boyington was fined £75 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

City centre: A thief stole packets of Primark boxer shorts and used threatening behaviour at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, a court heard. Daniel Parker, 45, of Gregory Boulevard, admitted the theft on October 23 last year and being abusive on July 31. He also admitted offending when he was subject to a 12-month conditional discharge, imposed at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on April 14 last year. No action was taken on the breach, but JPs did impose a nine-month conditional discharge and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

Nottingham: Adam O'Dowd, 35, of Forge Avenue, Calverton, was fined £200 for possessing cocaine. After he entered a guilty plea at Nottingham Magistrates' Court, O'Dowd was fined £200 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

City centre: A police inspector was assaulted in Broadway. Jason Powell attacked the officer on October 29. After pleading guilty at Nottingham Magistrates' Court, 20-year-old Powell, of Trinity Square, was fined £100 and ordered to pay compensation of £200 and £85 costs.

Ranby: A 32-year-old is alleged to have harassed a woman by sending letters from HMP Ranby, which caused alarm and distress. Derek Bannister, of no fixed address, is charged with an offence under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. He has been bailed to appear before magistrates on March 18.
